Stereoscopic image
When we first set eyes on the Toshiba Qosmio F755-3D290 for the first time, we noticed that its design was based on an older one, meaning that the exterior had the color red and a textured finish, while the interior was glossy black. With measurements and weight such as 15.3” x 10.5” x 1.5” and 3.22kg (without the AC adapter), this device fits in the slim and light category. During our test we held it and it didn’t once drag us down. The Qosmio F755-3D290 has an interesting display, namely a 15.6” one which boasts special eye-tracking software as we mentioned in the beginning of our review. This program tracked our head movements by using the laptop’s webcam; it then adjusted the stereoscopic image according to what it discovered. The screen comes installed with a resolution of 1080p; for 3D content there are 720p available.
Intel Core i7-2630QM processor
The keyboard of Toshiba F755 comes in the usual island shape; we really liked its keys, seeing as they had big spaces between them. Above the keyboard we noticed touch-sensitive buttons, such as for turning the 3D on and off, turning the sound up or down and so on.
The Intel Core i7-2630QM processor this laptop shipped with offered some great power and we could do all sorts of things fast and smooth. We didn’t come across those annoying lags and whatnot.
Nvidia GeForce 540M
In the memory department, there are 6GB with 1.333MHz DDR3; as for storage space, the Qosmio F755-3D290 is preinstalled with 750GB with 5.400rpm. Graphics are of Toshiba F755-3D290 represented by Nvidia GeForce 540M which make for decent game playing; however, if you want more, you should get yourself another laptop instead of the one we’re test here.Connectivity and networking are made of the following: 5 USB ports, Bluetooth, 802.11n Wi-Fi, HDMI, an SD card reader, VGA, headphone/mic jacks and stereo speakers. A rather surprising and very pleasant thing was the fact that this product has a Blu-ray rewritable drive which is able to record not only DVDs but also Blu-rays.
Decent battery life
The 3D video playback took some getting used to at first. The 3D effect worked from an off-axis side view. Some drawbacks for this laptop was the following: its 3D screen only worked well with 3D video files and Blu-rays and the 3D instructions which didn’t help us as much as we’d hoped, but we eventually managed to get things done on our own. Another thing we disliked was the Blu-ray player application, because it was very slow and unintuitive; we didn’t find a virtual remote and some of the keys had no explanations. The battery ran for 2 hours and a bit, which was decent, but watching 3D videos made it need a recharge after only 1 hour of usage.
Test and review conclusions
That’s all with our review. The Toshiba Qosmio F755-3D290 is a pretty good laptop, but, if you want something more powerful with better features and battery, we advise you to buy something else.Technical specifications and features
