Acer P236Hbd Review, Release Date, Specifications and Features

Acer-P236HbdIf you grew tired of your old monitor and want to buy a new, better one for your home or office, then maybe the latest Acer P236Hbd is the one for you. Sure, there are superior devices out there, but this one is worth a try if you want something simple yet efficient. At least, this is how we think after having tested the monitor in our labs. Find out more about it from our review below.

1080p Full HD resolution

First things first, let’s see how the new P236Hbd monitor looks. With its black bezel, stand and flat-panel design, this monitor is a sleek and stylish one which saves valuable space wherever you place it. With measurements and weight such as 21.4″ x 15.4″ x 7.9″ and 4.58kg, Acer’s latest product is one of the slimmest and lightest ones available today. The Acer P236Hbd is a 23” anti-glare Widescreen LCD which sports the following: a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels / 1080p, 0.265mm pixel pitch, 16.7 million colors, 5 ms response time, 300 cd/m² peak brightness, 80.000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 16:9 aspect ratio. While the latter spec provided, during the test for our review, both accurate and clear colors, the 300 cd/m² peak brightness was a bit too much for our eyes, but luckily we could adjust it to 60% and the contrast to 60% for a great viewing experience.

Fast response time

The fast response time, we were pleased to see, produced minimal tearing on high res games when the sync was turned off, very minimal tearing on high res when the sync was on and we noticed no ghosting whatsoever and it made this one of the fastest monitors out there. We enjoyed the fact that we had no problem with tilting or rotating the monitor and the stand looked solid, so we didn’t have to worry that it might break into a million pieces if we accidentally hit the desk it sat on. The 16:9 aspect ratio of P236Hbd helped us watch HD digital content or play various games without having to experience the image distortion we encountered with other such products from other manufacturers. Controls such as empowering, auto adjust, menu, volume increase/decrease and input select sit on the front, along with the power indicator.

Without speakers

Finally, the dynamic contrast ratio provided deeper black and brighter whites than other monitors on the market today. The power button is on the right.
In terms of connectivity, the back of the Acer P236Hbd doesn’t offer many; there are only 1 DVI, 1 VGA and 1 Power In. Also, the rear sports a Kensington lock.
When it came to viewing angle, the monitor has a 160 degrees horizontal viewing angle and 160 degrees vertical viewing angle. A big con was the fact that the device had no built-in speakers, so we had to buy external ones.

Digital Content Protection technology

A unique thing we discovered about this product was the High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP); this one enabled us to view digital movies and copy protected content.
The box the monitor comes in also features the following: user’s manual, 1 DVI cable, 1 VGA cable and 1 power cable.
Those who are concerned about the environment will be happy to see that the Acer P236Hbd meets Energy Star standards thanks to its ability to conserve energy (it only consumes 31.7 Watts when turned on) and reduce energy costs.

Test and review conclusion

In conclusion, after the test performed for our review we can say that the new Acer P236Hbd monitor performs well and saves valuable space in your house, all at a good price.
