Asus is world renowned for the quality of its products. The company’s manufacturers have created a new monitor known as Asus VE247H. Amazon users have only great words to say about the device, but we wanted to see for ourselves how it fared, so we tested it. To start this off, here are our impressions on the product’s design. The Asus VE247H is a nice-looking device with its black body. It measures 22.42″ x 16.13″ x 7.91 and weighs 6.80kg. There are monitors that are slimmer and lighter than this one, but still, the product we’re reviewing today is certainly not on the bulky-side. The latest Asus is a 23.6″ LCD backlight monitor which features the following specifications: 10.000.000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, Full HD 1080, 2ms response time, 16.7 million colors, 16:9 aspect ratio, 300 cd/m2, 30 – 83 KHz (horizontal refresh rate), 50 – 76 Hz (vertical refresh rate) and 0.272mm pixel pitch. Under the front sit the control button. The back comes with various ports. The stand of this Asus VE247H looks pretty solid, so you don’t have to worry that it might break into a million pieces if you accidentally hit the desk it sits on.ASCR technology
The fast response time, we were pleased to see, produced minimal tearing on high res games when the sync was turned off, very minimal tearing on high res when the sync was on and we noticed no ghosting whatsoever. When we first looked at the VE247H monitor, the 300 cd/m2 peak brightness was a bit too much for our eyes, but luckily we could adjust it to 60% and the contrast to 60% for a great viewing experience. We liked the fact that we had no problem when wanting to tilt or rotate the monitor. Both the aspect ratio and resolution provided full HD content without damaging image quality. The ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio – or ASCR in short – automatically adjusted the luminance of the backlight and realistically depicted night scenes when watching a movie or playing a game.
Very eco friendly
As usual, Asus have implemented the Splendid Video technology in their latest monitor, too. This feature means that the device features a dedicated video processor which uses a color engine that will automatically optimize image quality with intelligent brightness, sharpness corrections, color and contrast to ensure the best results in movie playback, image preview and gaming. The option comes with five video presets which can be accessed by pressing a hotkey; there are also three skin tone presets which make sure that you’ll have the best visual experience possible.Because the latest Asus VE247H is a LCD monitor, color saturation and brightness are enhanced, there’s less eye fatigue and less power consumption (< 35 W, Power Saving Mode < 1 W). Also, the device is more eco-friendly than others, because it has no materials made of mercury, halogen or lead and it exceeds Energy Star 5.0 guidelines.
Medium sound performance
In the connectivity department, the new Asus VE247H sports 1 HDMI, 1 DVI, 1 Analog RGB/Digital and 1 D-SUB/DVI-D/HDMI ports for easy connection to DVD-players, game consoles and the like.The sound performance wasn’t that great, but that’s to be expected from some Asus monitors.
The box comes with warranty card (3-year warranty for labor and parts), DVI cable, audio cable, VGA cable, power cord and quick start guide.
Test and review conclusions
As a conclusion of tour test performed for this review we can say that while not the best monitor out there, the new Asus VE247H LCD monitor is still worth a buy.Technical specifications
